Inspired by both Billy McComb and Ron Gilbert, Spanish magician Josemari Alcázar has created this entertaining routine that will be a huge hit in any children’s and family show.
You invite a spectator on stage and get the audience to promise not to reveal what they are about to see. While the spectator looks away (or get blindfolded), you show a silk with the image of an airplane. You roll up the handkerchief and let the spectator hold it while you show some large cards for him to choose from. However, the audience can see that all the cards feature the same image of the airplane... The spectator chooses one of the cards at random, looks at it, and holds it against his chest while you confidently begin to "read his mind"...
You ask about the colors, whether it has two wings, if it can fly... The spectator confirms everything, right until you ask if he would like to fly to Spain with what he has chosen. That the spectator denies. It turns out that the spectator is holding a picture of a CHICKEN. The handkerchief he has been holding is unfolded, and it reveals that the image has transformed into a chicken!
"Double Trouble" gives you plenty of potential for fun with the audience. Click to watch the video where Josemari himself presents his routine.
